If the Philadelphia Phillies had any chance of trading reliever Mike Adams at the trade deadline that has slowly went away. According to CSNPhilly.com’s Jim Salisbury, Adams, who is currently rehabbing will now be moved to the 60-day disabled list.

Adams will not be eligible to return off of the DL until early August. He was shut down in early June after coming back from a multitude of injuries last season. So far this season, Mike Adams has a 2.12 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 17 innings.
Who knows when Adams will be back? He could be back this season or he might not. Since this is the last year of his two-year, $12 million contract, it would be the best for him to return as he will be a free agent at the end of the season.
When Adams first came to the Phillies, Ruben Amaro Jr. envisioned him as a setup man to closer Jonathan Papelbon. That dream obviously has not come to fruition as Jake Diekman, Antonio Bastardo, and Ken Giles have filled that role.
