Tonight, Tyler Cloyd and the Phillies will look to take game 2 of this four game series against the Rockies.
Pitching for the Rockies today will be Jorge De La Rosa. De La Rosa is in the middle of one of the best seasons of his career, he is 12-6 with an ERA of 3.22. He has pitched 27.1 innings against the Phillies in his career; he is 0-4 with an ERA of 7.24 against them. That’s terrible! We can only hope that that will continue tonight. I am going to predict 8 innings and 2 earned runs for him tonight, because he is a good pitcher and I think that this Phillies offense is a lot different than the offense that he had those numbers against.
Making the start for the Phillies tonight will be Tyler Cloyd. So far this year, Cloyd is 2-2 with an ERA of 3.41, not bad. This will be Cloyd’s first big league appearance since May 10th, so it has been a while. This will not be Cloyd’s first start against the Rockies, he has had one start against them in 2012; in that game he pitched 4 innings and gave up 4 earned runs. He gave up 8 hits in that game as well, so he wasn’t too sharp that night, obviously. Hopefully he will do better tonight. I am going to predict 6 innings and 2 earned runs for Cloyd tonight, in his return back to the big leagues.
If the Phillies win, then they will ensure a series tie with the Rockies, and will try to win the series against them tomorrow. If the Rockies win then the series will be tied 1-1.
