After week one I am way down the list and am rethinking my position as an “expert” picker for this pool! Anyhow, as it is I do not have a choice because I drew the short straw in our last office meeting and the current status of our picketing union has caused me more work. My pay has been doubled by Mali, but my work has been increased three-fold… go figure!
Week one saw me going 2 and 3 as I grade things- here are the results for my picks. Keep in mind that I expect my picks to be spot on with regards to score, competitive level and who won!
- MSU defeated Boise State 17 to 13 – Prediction right: MSU 21 to 7
- Alabama defeated TTUN 41 to 14 – Prediction Wrong: Alabama 21 to 10
- Virginia Tech defeated Georgia Tech in OT 20 to 17 – Prediction Wrong: VT 34 to 14
- Louisville defeated Kentucky 32 to 14 – Prediction right: Louisville 42 to 3
- Notre Dame defeated Navy 50 to 10 – Prediction Totally Wrong Navy 23 to 17
As we move forward I have decided to format my choices into five titles, hope you enjoy it and if you have any suggestions of things you’d like to see just let me know. Here we go with the even weaker week two!
Safe Bet. USC versus Syracuse. USC will be ticked that it throttled a game Hawaii team and the Tide jumped them after defeating a non-game TTUN. They are still my frontrunners to win it all and will have little trouble with the “Cuse. The Orangemen had an awesome shootout with Nerdwestern last weekend but will struggle to score this week. USC 51 to 9
Points Plus. Vanderbilt versus Nerdwestern. The Wildcats had a shootout in the dome last weekend that will probably carry over this week. The odds on favorites in this game are a stingy Commodore squad who went toe-to-toe with South Carolina last weekend and are ready to cut loose. High scoring affair. Vandy 44 to 38
Defensive Struggle. North Carolina versus Wake Forrest. As basketball rivalries go this is a great match-up. As football goes in the ACC these two teams will be knocking each others heads off. Both offenses will struggle to get things going this week on tobacco road and we may see a couple of eggs headed into OT. UNC 13 to 7
Best Match-up. #24 Florida versus Texas A&M. Evidently the Gators will have their minds on things in Columbus this week as the Buckeyes play UCF. At least that’s what one of the reporters from down there predicts! One thing is for sure, Gator fans love their team and love supporting them. They’ll need it this week. Texas A&M is hungry because they had their first week game postponed due to hurricane Isaac and are ready for some football. We all know that the Gators struggle against and improved Bowling Green squad last weekend and will need their A-game to win this affair. Florida 23 to 17
Best B1G Game. Purdue versus Notre Dame. This was an easy choice for Big Ten Game of the Week for me. One of the few times I will root for Purdue is when they are playing the Irish. This game could have easily went down as the points plus game of the week but it lost the coin toss with Vandy and Nerdwestern. ND scored 50 on a horrible Navy defense and the Boliermakers went to town on Eastern Kentucky for the tune of 48. Look for much of the same here as whoever has the ball last will win the game. Purdue 37 to 34.
Congrats to CeMo, who leads the “Band Of Experts” competition after the first week.
There you have it and Good Luck!!!!
