Picks for the Weak – Week 7

Picks for the Weak - Week 7
FACT

Okay, so maybe it wasn’t just the scores that was tripping me up. I at least finished this past week at a paltry 3-4 which brings my overall straight up picks to 15 and 18.

Big shout out to Buffalo Buckeye who leads tBBC Pick Em contest at the halfway mark but is closely followed by a large group of contestants which includes Ludwigs Losers and KenKoz who are just one point behind! Keep it up guys, still several people in the hunt. Strangely enough I am right in the middle…

Here’s last weeks results!

Michigan St. @ Indiana.  Prediction: Sparty 41 to 13; RIGHT MSU 31 to 27

N.western @ Penn State.   Prediction: Nerds 31 to 27; WRONG PSU 39 to 28

Illinois at Wisconsin. Prediction: Wiscy 17 to 10; RIGHT Wiscy 31 to 14

TTUN @ Purdue.  Prediction: Purdue 21 to 20; WRONG TTUN 44 to 13

#21 Nebraska @ #12 Ohio State.  Prediction:Buckeyes all the way; How little did I know RIGHT Ohio State 63 to 38

Georgia @ South Carolina .  Prediction:Georgia 23 to 17; WRONG USC 35 to 7

WVU @ Texas.  Prediction: Texas 34 to 28; WRONG WVU 48 to 45

It’s really going to tick a lot of people off but the top team in the Leaders Division is starting to walk away with the conference having won their first two tough games within the B1G. There’s still plenty of football left and the Buckeyes can still have a special season. Lets get to this weeks picks.

Don’t Look Now. Iowa @ Sparty. There’s something about Kirk Ferentz that I like. I haven’t been able to figure it out over the years but he seems to get his players ready for the B1G season. Sparty is hurting, possibly because of their physical game with the Buckeyes, but they had to comeback to beat Indiana last week and may not be quite ready for a physical Hawkeye squad. Iowa 21 to 14

Surprise Surprise. Northwestern @ Minnesota. It’s proabably been a very long time since these two teams meyt early in the season and it meant something. Both teams can become bowl eligible pretty soon and need to take care of things within the Legends. The Gophers got blindsided by a surprising PSU team last week and need a victory. Nerds will be too smart for them though. NU 31 to 17

Worse and Worse. Illinois @ TTUN. Things aren’t going to get any better for Beckman and his Illini as the season progresses. A healthy and happy TTUN squad is home after dismantling Purdue last week and the love affair between Denard and the B1G continues as he got to share B1G POTW honors with Carlos Hyde who should have been the lone designate. DR’s game to lose. TTUN 38 to 13

Game of the Weak Week. Wisconsin @ Purdue. This is the game of the season for both teams. The teams ahead of them aren’t eligible to play in the B1G Championship or represent the B1G in a bowl game, so the winner will be the front-runner in the Leaders Division to do so with obvious spoiler games to come. Purdue got embarrassed last week and Wiscy got back on track for the most part. This is a toss-up for me but I will defer to the home team. Purdue 24 to 21

Really a Home Game. #8 Ohio State @ Indiana. Even though Coach Meyer has a huge amount of like and respect for Kevin Wilson this is still Ohio State at Indiana Memorial Stadium which has pretty much been a home game for the Buckeyes in previous years. It has the potential to be a trap game with Purdue coming to town next Saturday but the Buckeyes are rolling. Coach Meyer will save 70 or 100 for someone else in the B1G. Buckeyes get their average atleast

Red River Shootout a Great Rivalry Venue

Red River Shootout. #15 Texas @ #13 Oklahoma. As rivalries go, the B1G game is tops between Ohio State and TTUN, but those who live in the south will argue that it’s this game. Started in 1900 and played at the Cotton Bowl during the Texas State Fair, Texas leads the all-time series 59-42-5. Both have lost early season games already to upstart conference members K-State and WVU and need this win to stay in the B12 Championship hunt. Should be a great shootout. I am going with one of my favorite coaches in college football here. Oklahoma 34 to 27.
