Says Jon Paul Morosi on Twitter. I’m not really a huge fan of this move, should it actually happen, but I’ll go into that if we sign the guy. For now, I’ll draw the following two conclusions:
- Come hell or high water, Ryan Doumit is not going to be a Pirate in 2011.
- The Pirates have very little faith in John Bowker being able to hit enough to support the big half of a platoon in right field or at first base.
It’s the second part of this that concerns me, but like I said, more if it happens. I don’t want to burn too much brainpower on Lyle Overbay if the Pirates don’t even sign him.
IMMEDIATE UPDATE: Literally as I published this, Jen Langosch reports that it’s a done deal. Well then. Let’s say this: you guys let me get a sandwich or something and I’ll try to come up with more in a bit.
