The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded relief pitcher Arquimedes Caminero to the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named later.
The Pirates official Twitter account announced the waiver trade just a short time ago.

The 29-year old has had his ups and downs for the Pirates this season. He has posted a 1-2 record with a 3.51 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 39 appearances. Caminero has also compiled a 7.02 K/9 and a 4.83 BB/9 rate, both drop offs from last season. Caminero also had a stint on the disabled list earlier in the season with a quad strain.
In 12 appearances in the month of July, Caminero posted a 3.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts and only three walks in 12 innings while holding opponents to a .190 batting average.
Over the course of four major league seasons, Caminero has posted a 3.86 ERA with 125 strikeouts in 135.1 innings.
A corresponding move is likely to happen later on today as MLB.Com’s Adam Berry reports.

AJ Schugel is unlikely to be the replacement for Caminero as he was sent down to Triple-A Indianapolis on June 29. It is possible that Jeff Locke returns to a bullpen role while a rookie such as Steven Brault or Chad Kuhl takes his spot in the Pirates rotation.
At the moment, it is unknown who the player to be named later is in this deal. However, this trade could benefit the Pirates as Caminero was likely to be designated for assignment or traded away for something less.
UPDATE: Pirates select contract of Curtis Partch
According to Adam Berry, the Pirates have made their corresponding move to the trade of Caminero.
RHP Curtis Partch is expected to have his contract selected and be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis. There’s your corresponding move.

Partch has played in one game this season for the Pirates, allowing three earned runs on two hits and walking one without recording an out in an appearance against the Chicago Cubs on June 19.
The 29-year old is 2-1 with a 2.05 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 33 appearances at Triple-A Indianapolis this season. He has also compiled 53 strikeouts and 21 walks in 48.1 innings.
