Morse was 0-for-8 in 2016 with two strikeouts.
In addition, the Pirates have recalled AJ Schugel from Triple-A Indianapolis
The Pirates acquired Morse in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers for OF Jose Tabata in July of 2015. Morse never really found a consistent spot on the 25-man roster and was passed in the depth chart by both John Jaso and David Freese.
If no team claims Morse and he clears waivers, he can either accept a minor league assignment or decline and become a free agent.
Pirates Breakdown will have more on this situation as it develops.
