Pittsburgh Pirates Series Recap – From Bad to Worse

This was one of the poorest Pirates’ efforts in recent memory. The Pirates had a very controversial trade deadline. You can argue the merits of some of the deals, but a large portion of fans feel let down and alienated by the trades. This road trip and especially this series isn’t going to improve anyone’s mood. The team got swept in Milwaukee by the Brewers and lost two of three to the Braves.

This road trip and especially this series isn’t going to improve anyone’s mood. The team got swept in Milwaukee by the Brewers and lost two of three to the Braves. This effort was absolutely pathetic. No disrespect to the Braves, but they are 39-69 for a reason. There is no reason for the Pirates to lose a series to them. Much less one where the effort is so poor.

John Jaso’s base-running gaffe in game three is kind of indicative of the Pirates’ effort in their two losses against the Braves. I like John Jaso, but he really needs to sit down for at least the upcoming Reds’ series. There is zero excuse for that lackluster of an effort. Especially for an eight-year MLB veteran.

The Pirates will look to respond to this awful 1-5 road trip when they begin a three-game home series tonight against the Cincinnati Reds. Jameson Taillon takes on Anthony DeSclafani. First pitch is at 7:05pm.

Series Result: Pirates lose 2-1

2016 win/loss record: 53-53

2016 series record: 16-15-3
