- What went right:
- Gerrit Cole had a pretty solid start for the Bucs. He went 6.2 innings, allowed three runs on six hits and struck out four.
- Jung Ho Kang went 2-4 with one RBI.
- Gregory Polanco reached base three times, going 1-3 with two walks and one RBI.
- Matt Joyce and Starling Marte both made absolutely incredible catches in the outfield.
- What went wrong:
- Tony Watson once again was not good at all. He pitched one inning and allowed two runs on two hits.
- Albert Pujols hit his 30th career home run at PNC Park and was the difference in the ballgame. He finished 1-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
- Pirates left 11 men on-base and weren’t ever able to really extend their lead.
- Sean Rodriguez had a game to forget. He went 0-5 and grounded into the game inning double play with the bases loaded in the ninth inning.
