Result: Pirates lose 6-5 (11 innings)

Winning Pitcher: Blake Wood (3-0, 3.75ERA)

Losing Pitcher: Ryan Vogelsong (1-1, 3.46EA)

  • What went right:
    • Jeff Locke had himself a pretty good outing by all accounts. He went seven innings, allowed three runs on four hits and struck out six.
    • Gregory Polanco reached base four times as he went 2-3 with a home run, one RBI and a run scored.
    • John Jaso hit his second home run in as many days. This tie a game-tying shot in the ninth inning.
    • Gregory Polanco gunned out two runners at home plate.
  • What went wrong:
    • The defense was absolutely terrible as they committed four errors and just kept giving the Reds opportunites.
    • Gregory Polanco misplayed two fairly catchable balls in the outfield that allowed the Reds to score runs.
    • Tim Adleman was very good in his MLB debut. He went six innings, allowed two runs on three hits and struck out six.
    • Arquimedes Caminero was bad again. He went one inning, and allowed one run on two hits.
