Pittsburgh Pirates Series Recap: A Clean Sweep

The Pirates had a fantastic home stand and I don’t think even the most cynical fan could deny that. The team went 8-2 and played mostly good baseball. The Pirates beat teams they should have beat. They took care of business against the Braves, Rockies and Diamondbacks and that’s really what they needed to do.

The Pirates need to be better against the Cubs, but as of right now they are playing some very good baseball and it’ll be an interesting challenge to see how they match up with the Texas Rangers on this upcoming road trip. Should be a very tough series, but with the way the Pirates are playing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the team have a fairly solid road trip. It’s really easy to overreact to early season results and everyone wanted a better start to the season and so far the Pirates have delivered. They are much better at this point in the season than they were last year or in 2014. All things considered, they have had a pretty good start to the season.

Series Result: Pirates win 3-0

2016 win/loss record: 27-19

2016 series record: 9-5-1
