Result: Pirates win 5-0

Losing Pitcher: Taylor Jungmann (0-2, 9.00ERA)
- What went right:
- Jon Niese pitched a damn good ballgame for the Pirates when they really needed it. He went seven inning, allowed zero runs on three hits and struck out three.
- Josh Harrison was a force in the bottom third of the line-up, going 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
- John Jaso reached base twice again, going 1-3 with a walk and played some solid defense at first base.
- Mark Melancon looked outstanding in a non-save situation as he struck out the side to close out the win.
- What went wrong:
- Francisco Cervelli was caught stealing on what looked like a botched hit and run attempt.
- David Freese grounded into his fifth double play of the young season.
- Tony Watson was not very sharp. He didn’t allow a run, he walked two in his inning of work.
- Aaron Hill reached base three times for the Brewers, going 1-2 with two walks.
The Pirates played a very good game as Jon Niese lead the way with a very good pitching peformance. Overall, it was a step in the right direction as the team mostly played a good ball game. They did strand some runners in scoring position, but they also cashed in some of their opportunities, which is something they failed to do in the Detroit series.
The Pirates even the series and turned to Juan Nicasio for a chance to beat those pesky Brewers.
Game Three: Juan Nicasio vs. Zach Davies
