  • What went right:
    • Gregory Polanco was a huge force in the game, going 3-4 with a walk, one RBI and three runs scored.
    • Matt Joyce was a last minute addition to the lineup and rewarded his manager with a great game, going 3-4 with a walk and a run scored.
    • Juan Nicasio was mostly solid, going six innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out six.
    • The Pirates finally looked really good with runners in scoring position, going 6-21 (.286AVG)
  • What went wrong:
    • Andrew McCutchen was caught trying to steal second base again.
    • Kirk Nieuwenhuis had the big hit for the Brewers, getting a two out, two RBI single. He went 1-4 in the day.
    • Francisco Cervelli grounded into a double play.
    • Domingo Santana was effective at the top of the order for the Brewers, reaching base three times, going 1-2 with two walks.
