- What went right:
- David Freese went 2-4 with a RBI and a run scored. He also made several fantastic plays in the field.
- Starling Marte continued to prove why he should be an All Star. He went 2-4 with a RBI.
- Cory Luebke helped save the bullpen a little bit by pitching two quality innings in relief. He allowed zero runs on one hit.
- Jordy Mercer went 1-3 with a RBI.
- What went wrong:
- Jon Niese had his worst effort in a long time. He went 5.1 innings, allowed eight runs on 11 hits and struck out five.
- Matt Holliday had his second consecutive three hit game. He went 3-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Yadier Molina went 3-4 with a RBI and a run scored.
- Mike Leake pitched very well as he went seven innings, allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and struck out six. He also went 2-3 with a run scored at the plate.
