  • What went right:
    • Jameson Taillon looked really good in his first MLB game. He went six innings, allowed three runs on six hits and struck out three. He got into a bit of trouble, but showed plenty of flashes of his potential and hopefully he sticks around and grows at the MLB level.
    • John Jaso went 2-4 with a run scored and one RBI from the lead-off spot.
    • Gregory Polanco continued to show why he should be an All Star. He went 3-5 with a RBI and a run scored.
    • The Pirates stole four bases off Syndergaard. They really took advantage of his slow delivery to the plate.
  • What went wrong:
    • Jared Hughes wasn’t able to hold the lead and served up a game-tying two run home run in the eighth inning. He was able to keep the game tied, but it was one hell of an escape job. He allowed two runs on two hits and two walks.
    • Yoenis Céspedes went 3-5 with a run scored.
    • Ty Kelly went 2-4 with two RbIs and a run scored for the Mets.
    • Cory Luebke gave up the winning run and did not pitch well. He went one inning, allowed one run on three hits and one walk.
