What went right:
- Gregory Polanco had a monster performance as he went 4-5 with a home run, one RBI, and a run scored.
- Francisco Liriano hit his second career home run.
- Jeff Locke pitched two very good innings of relief.

What went wrong:
- Francisco Liriano did not pitch very well. He went 3.1 innings, allowed seven runs on eight hits and walked four.
- Kyle Seager went 3-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
- Andrew McCutchen went 0-4 with two strikeouts.

Result: Pirates win 10-1

Winning Pitcher: Gerrit Cole (6-6, 2.78ERA)

Losing Pitcher: James Paxton (3-5, 4.27ERA)

What went right:
- Gerrit Cole was an absolute beast. He threw his first career complete game, allowed one run on three hits and struck out six.
- Andrew McCutchen had a tremendous game as he went 3-5 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored.
- Jordy Mercer was excellent from the leadoff spot. He went 3-5 with one RBI and three runs scored.

What went wrong:
- Nori Aoki went 2-4 with a run scored.
- Sean Rodriguez committed a fielding error.
- Jung Ho Kang was thrown out at third base.
