- Francisco Liriano did not pitch very well. He went 3.1 innings, allowed seven runs on eight hits and walked four.

- Andrew McCutchen had a tremendous game as he went 3-5 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored.
- Jordy Mercer was excellent from the leadoff spot. He went 3-5 with one RBI and three runs scored.
- What went wrong:
- Nori Aoki went 2-4 with a run scored.
- Sean Rodriguez committed a fielding error.
- Jung Ho Kang was thrown out at third base.
