This series was absolutely terrible. The Pirates never lead at any point and were pretty much outclassed by a fairly mediocre Brewers ballclub. Miller Park continues to be a House of Horrors for the Pirates as they have gone 18-63 there since 2007. It’s almost impressive how much the Brewers own the Pirates in Miller Park, but for the fans, it’s just frustrating.
The Pirates gave up first-inning runs in all three games, so they constantly had to play catch up. That is never a recipe for success. Especially in a stadium that apparently is in the team’s head. The biggest sign of Miller Park being cursed for the Pirates was the success of Keon Broxton in this series. He entered play hitting just .135/.256/.203/.459. on the season. In the three games, he went 4-8 with a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored. The Pirates could not get him out in the series.
The Pirates will have a day off to recover from their sweep at the hands of the Brewers before traveling to Atlanta to begin a three-game series with the Braves. Game one will feature Gerrit Cole facing Mike Foltynewicz. First pitch is at 7:10pm.
