- What went right:
- John Jaso had two hits and has really rebounded from his brief slump.
- Cole Figueroa had a very good game against seemingly all odds. In his first start of the season he went 1-1 with a RBI and a walk.
- Jordy Mercer went 1-4 with a RBI.
- What went wrong:
- Yu Darvish looked like he didn’t miss a beat in his year and a half away. He went five innings, allowed one run on three hits and struck out seven.
- Jurickson Profar played very well for the Rangers as he went 2-4 with two run scored.
- Adrian Beltre hit another home run and finished 1-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
- Jared Hughes didn’t have a particularly strong outing as he allowed one run on two hits in his inning of work.
The Pirates did not play a bad game as they had opportunities almost all night, but unfortunately the Rangers were able to pitch out of trouble all night. During the course of the season there are simply some games you are never going to win and this felt like one of those games. They Pirates looked to rebound with Filthy Frankie on the mound looking for a series win.
Game Three: Francisco Liriano vs. Martin Perez
