- What went right:
- Jordy Mercer and Andrew McCutchen began the game with back-to-back doubles in the first inning.
- Starling Marte went 2-4.
- Francisco Cervelli had a multi-hit game and now had three hits in his last seven at-bats. Hopefully he’s starting to break through his May slump.
- David Freese hit a home run, much to the chagrin of the Texas Rangers’ fans.
- What went wrong:
- Jurickson Profar had another good game from the lead-off spot and seems to be fully healed from the shoulder problems that kept him out of action for most of the last two seasons. He went 2-4 with a run scored.
- Prince Fielder hit a towering home run that seemed to change the momentum of the game.
- Mitch Moreland had the deciding blow in the fourth inning when he hit a three-run home run to put the Rangers up 4-2.
- Francisco Liriano’s road woes continued as he went six innings, allowed five runs on six hits and walked four.
