The Pittsburgh Pirates were celebrating Locke, enjoying fresh salsa and looking fly this week.
The Pittsburgh Pirates came home late Thursday night/early Friday morning after a tough seven-game road trip – and home is looking pretty good to these guys!
The one stand-out moment of the last road trip was an outstanding night in Miami when both pitching and hitting was on fire. Jeff Locke pitched a complete shut-out and his teammates were there to be certain it was celebrated.

While the visit to Texas wasn’t so great in the win category, for Oklahoma boy Jordy Mercer, it offered him a little taste of home.
Just would like to say Thanks to my family, hometown of Taloga, and everyone else for the support in TX! Greatly appreciated! #blessed #BUCN

Francisco Cervelli is also reppin’ some new gear – and it’s not just for show. According to the company website, 2nd Skull, a Pittsburgh-based althetic gear company, their product is designed to protect players from impacts to the head. “The 2ND SKULL® Cap is a protective skull cap that looks just like the one that Cam Newton wore on Super Bowl 50. 2ND SKULL® products enhance these by having a thin, soft, flexible and breathable layer of protective material that delivers impact protection. The special urethane molecules are soft at rest but harden upon impact, absorbing the energy” – said Federico Olivares, CEO of 2nd Skull, LLC.

In the brand launch heard round the Burgh, Cervelli debuted a line of salsa in Pittsburgh-area Giant Eagles. In flavors mild, medium and hot (Cervy is reported to like the mild), the salsa reportedly came about after the backstop made some for the clubhouse and people liked it so much they recommended he sell it. Working to confirm that. And grab a few jars to taste test. Stay tuned!

The catcher was also recently gifted with this abstract portrait by Venezuelan illustrator/artist Eduardo Sanabria while at Marlins Park.

Gregory Polanco must have been on some sort of GQ photo shoot while in Miami, because his clothing game was strong.

And on a final note, we here at Pirates Breakdown send a hearty get well to…well a lot of Buccos after the pelting they took on Thursday night. But especially to Ryan Vogelsong, who had surgery Thursday to repair the facial fractures he suffered after being hit by a pitch on May 23. #GetWellVoggy
The Pirates take on the Angels today at 4:05. PBD will be well-represented at the game, find one of us and say “Hi!” Enjoy the rest of your weekend and #LetsGoBucs!
