All Star week drags on for fans missing baseball, but for players, it’s a rare chance to rest and recharge – and the Pittsburgh Pirates did it in style.

The Pittsburgh Pirates sent Josh Harrison to Miami to represent them for the 2017 All Star Game. J-Hay did the Burgh proud (as did his wife and daughter, both looking goorgeous in white).

Much-Needed Downtime
This Insta, from Andrew McCutchen’s new Instagram account, @cutchtwenty2, likely sums up how all of the team and staff felt as the break started:

Jordy Mercer had a front row seat of the recent full moon over his home state of Oklahoma on get-away night after the Pirates THUMPED the Cubs 14-3 on Sunday.

Family Bonding
Jose Osuna spent his time off hanging out with his family. And the family that hangs together, wears the cutest matchy-matchy Jordans together.

Trevor Williams spent some quality time with son, Ike, apparently terrorizing a hotel somewhere:

Jamo Can’t Catch a Break
First it was Tommy John surgery, then a sports hernia, and then testicular cancer – you’d think Jameson Taillon would have had two lifetimes of illnesses and injuries. But no, he was felled again, and this time on the All Star Break at that. Fortunately, though, this sickness, while no fun (I speak from experience), promises 100% recovery.
Betrayed by the ole faithful Ancient Grains Bowl from True Foods Kitchen. More like #FalseFoods 💩💩#TruePoo

Food poisoning is like a breakup. Gonna have to learn how to love again after being stabbed in the back by my favorite meal #canttrustanyone
— Jameson Taillon (@JTaillon50) July 10, 2017
That Ancient Grains bowl features miso glazed sweet potato, turmeric, charred onion, snow pea, grilled portobello, avocado, and hemp seed. No word on whether or not Jamo ordered it with the optional added tofu, chicken, shrimp, grass-fed steak, or steelhead salmon.
Back to the Ol’ Salt Mines
And the best part of the All Star Break – at least from a fan’s perspective is when it’s over and the guys take the field again.
Cutch is ready.

It looks like Trevor Williams might be vying to take over Clubhouse DJ duties, and if so his teammates better be ready to jam!

Seemingly, food poisoning behind him (pardon the pun), so is Taillon:
Great break at home in Houston, 🛫 back to Pittsburgh! Lets keep our heads down, finish strong, and see where that takes us!

In the Media
Occasionally we happen upon a story or two we can’t help but pass on. This is one of them:
Tommy John. A hernia surgery. A liner to the head. And then came cancer.
Jameson Taillon is a survivor.https://t.co/rNGf6eZRR0

The best line of the article, IMHO, is this:
“I’m lying in bed, hand in my pants, watching TV — just like a guy, you know?” – Jameson Taillon
Who would believe that the most stereotypical man thing, hands down the pants, would be the way Taillon discovered his testicular cancer. Beyond that lighter moment, the article is a wonderful look into the timeline of Jamo’s diagnosis from several very personal perspectives.
That’s all this week for the Pittsburgh Pirates Social Media Round-up. Our long national nightmare is over and Pirates baseball is back tonight The Bucs take on the St. Louis Cardinals for a three-game home stand beginning at 7:05 p.m. at PNC Park. Have a great week and #LetsGoBucs!
