Pittsburgh Pirates Social Media Round-up: Halloween Edition

The Pittsburgh Pirates are enjoying some much-needed rest this offseason, but that didn’t stop players from donning uniforms for some Halloween fun.

While the front office works out its plan of attack for the 2017 season, Pittsburgh Pirates players are mixing pleasure with business – relaxing and doing things that “regular people” get to do like going to holiday parties and visiting with family. Make no mistakes about it though, the guys are also already looking toward next April – hitting the gym and continuing charitable work in their downtime. No rest for the wicked, as they say. Especially on Halloween…

Andrew McCutchen and his always beautiful even-when-she’s-trying-to-look-scary wife, Maria, stepped out in the Burgh last night looking positively ghoulish…

The Rodriguez family rocked the coordinated costumes, all going as The Avengers – It would be interesting to see if Sean Rod is still a little green-tinged today…

The Mercer Family went with the Star Wars theme – although, we can’t actually confirm that’s Jordy behind that mask…

Trevor Williams also went Star Wars, although a different era of the saga. He officially wins Halloween with the ingenious way he worked carrying baby Ike into the character of their costumes.

John Jaso even made a rare social media appearance…Oh wait… (great costume, kid!)

Jameson Taillon and Nick Kingham partied in Houston where they’re training…

And believe it or not, this is NOT Jared Hughes‘ Halloween costume! Just another selfie he found on his phone.

He did apparently pass out candy to Trick or Treaters, and become a God to his beloved dog, Tilly.

Steven Brault may have been projecting what A LOT of people were feeling about Halloween this year, though:

He opted for some very manly margaritas on the oceanfront at sunset with a buddy instead.

October is national Bullying Prevention Month, and even though it’s officially November 1, you still have time to team up with Andrew McCutchen to help stamp out bullying with the purchase of this t-shirt – so elegantly modeled below. A portion of the proceeds goes to Playworks, an organization dedicated to reducing violence in schools. Cutch is looking to sell 1,000 shirts to bring a Playworks program to a Pittsburgh elementary school. Shirts are only available through November 14.

Cutch’s fellow-outfielder Starling Marte has been enjoying time at home in the Dominican Republic, hitting up the gym and basking in the nightlife (his Instagram stories are filled with concert footage). This is the AFTER Gym shot:

Matt Joyce is mixing up his offseason relaxing with a little charity work, spending time and dropping off a check recently at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Meanwhile, in South Korea…Jung Ho Kang took in a little baseball – hanging out with fellow MLBer Hyun Soo Kim during the KBO series…

Francisco Cervelli is spending time with his parents and showing them lots of love and respect on Instagram. Let’s all be a little more like Cervy (hug ’em if you got ’em!)!
