The Pittsburgh Pirates celebrated a Golden Glove, two golden rings and a Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road on social media this week
This was a busy past week in terms of the shape of the US, the world and most-importantly, the 2017 baseball season. The Pittsburgh Pirates players took notice.
Steven Brault added some much-needed levity into a tense election night with an apt split-screen comparison:

Trevor Williams wasn’t shy about voicing his opinion in who should win the Presidential election…
You already know who I'm voting for #SeasonFinaleofAmerica pic.twitter.com/648ndYTBhp
— Trevor Williams (@MeLlamoTrevor) November 8, 2016
(One would hope that Williams was not actually one of the rumored 11,000 people who wrote in the Gorilla’s name for to top job the land. I write rumored because according to CNN, those stories are just that, rumors.)
Williams, who is studying History in college, did have this rather astute observation about the election – and college sports:
If Trump wins the popular vote but loses the presidency it will begin a huge rivalry between Trump University and the Electoral College

Not sure where Adam Frazier comes down politically, but I think we’re seeing a little fanboy about Raiders quarterback Derek Carr in this tweet:
I need a Carr jersey. Guy is a stud on and off the field. RT @AmazingSprtsPic: Derek Carr speaks the truth pic.twitter.com/EPFt0K0gT4

No matter how you feel about the Presidential election, everyone is in agreement that we’re happy that Starling Marte won a second Gold Glove award!
It's a #MartePartay!
Congrats to @StarlingMart for going back-to-back & winning his second straight #GoldGlove award! 🏆🏆 pic.twitter.com/fcKuC5LP7q

(Loose translation): Every accomplishment, reward and goal that I am fulfilling is dedicated to my family and to all my fans. When I leave the field, I give everything because behind me comes many who can give the same. Your delivery and hunger to be better will lead you to success. Every day you wake up, ask God for faith and you will see how things will be different. Think of where it comes from when you feel that you no longer give for more and get up with more energy to give everything. Let’s go with God.
Boom!! Congrats @Starlingmart #GoldGlove #BUCN

Congrats are also in order for Jordy Mercer, who was initiated into the Oklahoma State University Baseball Hall of Fame.
A two-way star at shortstop and on the mound, @jordy_mercer is the newest member of the Cowboy Baseball Hall of Fame! Congrats Jordy! pic.twitter.com/vdqy5FXFSn

Gerrit Cole is officially off the market. This past weekend the Pirates starting pitcher married longtime girlfriend (and sister of San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford) Amy Crawford at the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara. Congrats you two! I wonder if they served Cole’s wine at their reception…
Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Gerrit Cole, your wedding was absolutely beautiful. 💞 #bruinsmarryingbruins pic.twitter.com/T7hCw4mPn8

Jameson Taillon was on hand to celebrate the nuptials.

Meanwhile on Paradise Island, Wade LeBlanc and his wife crashed a wedding… (bonus points for the movie reference).

Francisco Cervelli caught back up with good friend and work-out partner Melky Cabrera to chill recently.

And Brault’s mom spent some of that much-coveted family time educating her son, and Conor (?), on a Loudon Wainwright III classic.

Fellow pitcher Tyler Glasnow was enjoying some interesting music of his own – the music menu aboard a recent flight.

AJ Schugel wasn’t on a plane, but he tweeted a recent news story about a snake on a plane with the comment “Ultimate Nightmare Scenario” (which makes me like him even more than I already did).

November 11 was Veteran’s Day and several Buccos took a few moments out to honor those who served…
Happy Veterans Day to servicemen, women & their families! An unimaginable sacrifice for the greater good of our country and freedom🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

And finally, this week, while many of us wrung our hands about politics and hot stove rumors and perhaps the outrageous Ebay costs of the newly released Nintendo Classic retro game, one family was dealt a terrible blow. Fan 93.7 co-host Colin Dunlap explained in a simple twee,t how in an instant, a world can be turned upside down:
Today we were told "your daughter has leukemia."
We could use your prayers for our sweet Darran.
We're shaken, but we will fight and win. pic.twitter.com/mXKnR6beZM— Colin Dunlap (@colin_dunlap) November 8, 2016
Our thoughts are with him, his family and especially sweet Wonder Woman Darran during this time. Dunlap posted a lovely note following up on his announcement. Take a read, take pride in the city of Pittsburgh and take the time to tell those you love how much they mean to you.
