The Pirates hit the road for a massive 17 games-in-a-row run – and they’ve got the clothes, the tools and the “gifts” they need for success.
The Pirates celebrated a big win in Miami last night, overpowering the Marlins in a 12-2 game that provided the team used to (losing) games by one run a badly-needed pick-me-up.
Daniel Hudson certainly was ready to celebrate:

Flower Power
Now, you can say what you want about why that happened, but I think it’s got something to do with these shirts the team donned…

Tools of the Trade
Felipe Rivero got some new gloves in:

And while gloves are the tools of any baseball player’s trade, pitchers need a little something else. Jameson Taillon has a recommendation for parents on a master class:
Parents with kids wanting to pitch, show them Gerrit's performance from last night. That's an instructional video on how to do it

For Trevor Williams, music is also another tool to get him ready to play:

And you gotta have your wristbands, just like Josh Harrison, right?

And of course, fuel for that body is also an important tool. Now, in the land of Sheetz, I don’t pretend to know what Jordy Mercer is doing eating from GetGo – but apparently he likes it (and it’s not tagged #Ad, so it can’t be connected to the Polanco pretzel Insta from a few days before…)

Steel City Support
Pittsburgh’s pro-teams are all about sharing the love and supporting each other. Members of the Pirates were out in force to cheer on the Penguins last week.

Gift’s Debut
There’s no doubt that Gift Ngoepe‘s call up was a great storyline throughout baseball.

His teammates were just as enthused as the rest of the world.
I get excited to see anyone debut, but Gift's was a bit more special. We grew up through the system together, what a journey Mpho! #ooompaa

And while Gift is getting his (fully deserved) 15-minutes, the Pirates saw another player’s dreams come true recently – Dovydas Neverauskas – the first Lithuanian-born and raised to play in the majors.

Famalee Forever
Sean Rodriguez is in Miami still recovering from the injuries he sustained in that terrifying automobile crash during the off season. And while we wish he were on the field (many of us wishing he were still wearing black and gold), it’s nice to see that he caught up with some of the guys when they hit town for the Marlins series:
