The Pittsburgh Pirates are enduring a lot of weather lately, but as long as they have the internet and fidget spinners, they will stay entertained.
Rain Rain go away – wait – don’t – only because we would have missed a most magnificent meta baseball moment for the Williams family:
Rainy Delay Entertainment
Leave it up to Trevor Williams to find a way to entertain fans, troll teammates and keep his wife and “social media manager” Jackie on her toes when rain forces a lengthy game delay.

Yes, it is really them in these screen grabs, Jackie went so far as to tweet a selfie from the game as proof:

(Hating on her just a touch for her ability to pull off bangs – but I digress) Do yourself a favor and read the whole thread, it’s a treat.
Not sure if they were using them to pass time during the rain delay or not, but fidget spinners have officially made their way into the Pirates Clubhouse.

There’s a First Time For Everything
The Pirates lead the way in “firsts’ within MLB, and the past few weeks have been no exception. We all know about Gift Ngoepe and Dovydas Neveraus being the first players from Africa and Lithuania respectively – but Univision revealed that outfielder Jose Osuna is the first person from the Venezuelan city of Bocono to make it to the show. According to Wikipedia, Bocono is located in the Andean state of Trujillo and boasts a population of nearly 80,000. The region straddles the Andes Mountains and his home city has an average elevation is 4,019 ft. For reference, the elevation at Seven Springs in 2,530 feet and Pittsburgh ranges in elevation from 738 feet in the Strip District to over 1,300.

There were some personal firsts celebrated on the team recently – and of course Pirates Clubhouse Manager extraordinaire Scott “Bones” Bonnett was on hand and on Twitter to share them with everyone:

The Brotherhood
It’s always great to see players supporting each other. And while it wasn’t surprising to see Andrew McCutchen, an assistant editor for The Players’ Tribune, supporting Gift Ngoepe’s story in the groundbreaking publication, it was heartwarming all them same.
Love this. https://t.co/WAfMcdeYfX

Last week, @Pirates SS Gift Ngoepe stepped into the batter's box.

Just a Kid From…
Powerade’s “We’re All Just a Kid from Somewhere” campaign was introduced a few years ago. Their customized t-shirts showed up in the Pirates clubhouse yesterday:
