Sights & Sounds from Pittsburgh Pirates spring training – Black & Gold game

The 2016 Pirates Spring Training session officially moved to Bradenton today, signifying another mile marker as the team lurches towards Opening Day. Prospects took center stage in the game, most notably in the pitching match-ups.

Here now are exclusive highlights from the Black & Gold game:

Jameson Taillon and Tyler Glasnow grabbed the marquee as they opposed each other, taking the hill for the Black and Gold squads, respectively.

Glasnow was very excited to get back into game action. “It was nice getting back in there. You always kind of forget what it feels like to go out and pitch” Glasnow said. “You always have BPs and stuff like that, but going out there for the first inning, it was extremely exciting.”

The young hurler’s full comments showed a wise, beyond-his-years approach to some of his mechanics, most notably with his change-up.

For his part, manager Clint Hurdle was as excited to see the hurlers show their wares as fans were.

“Oh my gosh, it was great to see them on the mound,” Hurdle exclaimed as he opened his media remarks. Here were his full comments:

Not to be lost in the shuffle, Taillon was notably enjoying his first action that approached anything akin to a game-scenario since battling a myriad of injuries over the past two years, including Tommy John surgery.

“As cheesy as it sounds, just really happy to be out there today,” commented Taillon as he broke down how it felt to be back on a live mound. Here are his full comments:
