John Jaso
Speaking of guys who have struggled as of late, Jaso’s name is near the top of the list.
The month of June saw him post a .197/.313/.296 line and July hasn’t been too much better at .235/.291/.294.
Similar to Niese, Huntington shouldn’t expect much in return for Jaso, but a move could benefit the club as it could free up a spot for Josh Bell.
Bell won’t get the call as long as Jaso is in the fold and needless to say he could at the very least match Jaso’s numbers at the plate. And if the Pirates were to commit to giving Bell an extended look this season, there isn’t a spot for Jaso on the Pirates deep bench.
Who would want Jaso?
He could be a valuable bench guy for any number of teams. Just not this one.
If Huntington could turn Jaso into a prospect we don’t hear about for the next couple of years and free up a spot for Bell, he should jump at the opportunity.
