Pittsburgh Pirates Wake Up Call – A Fall Classic all can appreciate

In our daily Wake-Up Call, we get you ready for the day with a complete look at all things Pittsburgh Pirates.

While we at Pirates Breakdown pride ourselves in our quality Pittsburgh Pirates coverage, I wanted to take the opportunity to use this morning’s wake up call to reflect upon the madness and greatness that has transpired within the first six games of the World Series.

Going into the fall classic, it was expected that it would be a heavyweight battle. Both the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Dodgers finished with over 100 wins and won their respective divisions. Needless to say, they entered the postseason as two of the biggest threats, and now that they are heading to a seventh game at Dodger Stadium, I can’t say that I am surprised.
I mean, did you expect anything else?

And as a baseball fan, did you want anything else?

Last year’s World Series was phenomenal as well, with the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians going to seven games. Rajai Davis’ heroics were unbelievable to watch along with the Cubs resiliency en route to ending the long and dreaded curse.

This year’s series, like in years past, has had it all. There have been pitching masterpieces including Clayton Kershaw’s gem in game one and even the six solid innings hurled by Justin Verlander in game six. There have also been games where the offenses have taken over including game two when 13 combined runs were scored and game five when 25 combined runs came across the plate in a five-hour long, 10 inning marathon that concluded with an Alex Bregman walkoff.

This series has been nothing short of magnificent and baseball fans still get one more game of it. This seven-game set has been tremendous for baseball. It has showcased every reason why fans love the game and follow it from the beginning of spring training to the seventh game of the fall classic.

Despite the inevitable sadness that will be felt once the season is over, enjoy the final game of the season, baseball fans. I’m sure the conclusion of the heavyweight battle will not disappoint.
