In our daily Wake-Up Call, we get you ready for the day with a complete look at all things Pittsburgh Pirates.
Two Pittsburgh Pirates prospects have impressed in the prestigious Arizona Fall League. In fact, the duo of INF Kevin Kramer and SP Mitch Keller have been awarded with AFL All Star nods for their performances.
Keller has steadily impressed during the offseason’s premiere talent showcase, posting a 1.72 ERA to go along with a 0.77 WHIP. As we have said in a previous piece, Keller’s continued march in his development has given Pittsburgh Pirates fans — whose faith in the orgnization’s ability to develop highly touted prospects (see: Tyler Glasnow) has been shaken — a chance to exhale.
We recently talked to noted prospect watcher Bernie Pleskoff, recently of Fan Rag, about Keller’s recent AFL performance. Pleskoff noted that Keller still has a potentially big kink to work out. Here’s the interview:

After missing a large chunk of the season with a wrist injury, Kramer’s two home runs in 36 at-bats are encouraging. Often overshadowed on many prospect lists by his “Seinfeld” counterpart Kevin Newman, Kramer is slowly carving out a well-earned reputation of his own.
None of this is presented as concrete proof that the Pittsburgh Pirates have two can’t miss prospects that will hit the major leagues soon. However, with teams sending their best prospects to the league, having two prospects stand out at key positions bodes very well.
