In our daily Wake-Up Call, we get you ready for the day with a complete look at all things Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates continued their winning ways yesterday, getting just enough from Jeff Locke and some later-game heroics from David Freese to come away with a 5-4 win.
The team has now won eight of its last 10 games. Going into this home-stand we had opined that the team would do well to stack wins when it can, as the upcoming slate is a little brutal. Not only did recent bad weather force the team into playing for 21 consecutive days, but the quality of opponents will definitely see an uptick. A seven-game road trip through Texas and Miami is followed by a home stand against the Mets and Angels, and then things get interesting. The team will fly to Colorado for a make up game, then fly right back for a three-game slate against the Cardinals.
The Pittsburgh Pirates can finish the home stand with a 9-2 record with a win tonight, and that is a mark that any team would sign up for over an 11-game home stretch.

- AZ Central reports that the Diamondbacks’ brass is upset at the Pittsburgh Pirates for the recent bean-ball exchange. Tony LaRussa also reportedly has beef with the Pirates’ announcers, though it’s unclear if their hurt feelings are actually a result of their uniforms.
- Stephen Nesbitt of the Post-Gazette had an interesting mailbag column, including prompting from one reader who claims the Francisco Cervelli extension was a mistake.
