Pittsburgh Pirates Wake Up Call – Last Weekend Without Baseball Activity

In our daily Wake-Up Call, we get you ready for the day with a complete look at all things Pittsburgh Pirates.

Several Pittsburgh Pirates have already filtered their way into Bradenton. That fact alone is enough to remind Pirates fans – and indeed, all baseball fans – that this weekend shall be the last one without baseball activity of some kind.

Though winter still rages about in many areas, the warmth of Florida can go a long way towards reigniting the competitive fires well before the first meaningful game is played.

Case in point is Clint Hurdle. The Pittsburgh Pirates manager appears on 93.7 The Fan’s Starkey and Mueller yesterday for a pre-Spring Training hit. Here now is the audio from that appearance:

h/t to 93.7 for making the audio available.

For the most part, Hurdle offered manager speak at its finest. However, there was one notable item mixed in. When asked about Tyler Glasnow‘s chances to join the rotation out of Spring Training, Hurdle’s speech rose a tick. It became very clear that Hurdle is in the pro-Glasnow camp.

We’ll let you listen for yourselves, but I’d wager that many Pittsburgh Pirates fans are happy to hear the skipper’s voice on the airwaves talking Pirates baseball.
