In our Daily Wake-Up Call, we get you ready for the day with a complete look at all things Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Pittsburgh Pirates just won a series against the New York Mets; a series in which they outscored the Metropolitans 25-12 in the three games.
Clearly, the Pirates are seeing the ball very well, which results in hitting the ball very well. Over the last seven days, many Pittsburgh regulars have been locked in, and some meaningful contributions have come by way of Elias Diaz, John Jaso and other “part-timers.”

All of that is well and good, but how can the Pittsburgh Pirates maintain that flow throughout the remainder of a brutally tough schedule in June? Is hitting truly contagious?
Is momentum really a thing?
Thus far in 2017 the team has not been able to grab ahold of those positive vibes and run with them. Their longest winning streak of the year remains at three games – a mark they’ve reached twice this season. We have seen this club breathe fire offensively before only to be shut down over the following days.
The best way for the Pittsburgh Pirates to gain that fabled momentum is to continue to put together good at-bats. With Gerrit Cole‘s recent struggles combined with unsure returns from others in the rotation — Tyler Glasnow and Chad Kuhl, namely — the easiest path for the Pirates to string together some wins is likely to be an offensive one.
