Pittsburgh Pirates Wake Up Call: Will they or won’t they?

In our daily Wake-Up Call, we get you ready for the day with a complete look at all things Pittsburgh Pirates.

First off, Pirates Breakdown hopes that every Pittsburgh Pirates fan, young and old, large and small, had a fantastic holiday season!

With the Christmas holiday behind us, our thoughts now turn back towards the ongoing drama surrounding a potential trade that would send Gerrit Cole to the New York Yankees.

It was a lean few days for Pirates fans who hoped to see some news surface on the two teams’ potential deal. However, Kristie Ackert and Bill Madden of the New York Daily News ran a piece over the weekend that seemed to suggest that Gleyber Torres — the number one prospect in baseball — was now officially off the table.

If this report is, in fact, true — and there is no reason to believe otherwise — I would fully expect a deal to be completed sooner rather than later. The report goes on to say that the Pittsburgh Pirates would take a package including right hander Chance Adams and third baseman Miguel Andujar in a potential deal along with outfielder Clint Frazier, perhaps sending Josh Harrison back in return.

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And though the fire died down a bit over the holiday weekend, it’s set to roar back to life. In a big way. Sooner rather than later.
