In our daily Wake-Up Call, we get you ready for the day with a complete look at all things Pittsburgh Pirates.
It’s Opening Day at PNC Park
Everyone, ignore the snow that is currently on the ground because it’s the Pittsburgh Pirates Home Opener today! The offseason has been over for a few days now but it never feels real until your team plays inside their home ballpark. The Pittsburgh Pirates didn’t have the most fun offseason in the world but that doesn’t matter now. Regardless of your team’s expectations going into the season, for at least the Home Opener, every team is a contender. Right now the Pirates have more of a future than a past, which means anything is possible. Hope truly springs eternal in the beautiful game of baseball.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are coming off a very successful first three games of the 2018 season. They’re currently 3-0 following a sweep of the Detroit Tigers. The Pirates had to endure some wonky weather in Detroit as the first road trip of 2018 involved two weather delays and needed a split doubleheader to be completed. The weather delays were a bit frustrating but it’s always worth it when you win.
Every team wants a good start to the regular season but it seems especially critical for the Pirates to play some good baseball early on. The team doesn’t have a ton of goodwill with a chunk of the fanbase, so winning would really go a long way in mending some relationships. It really is that simple, if the team wins, the fans will return. Yes, even the ones signing petitions and calling for boycotts. The Pirates need to be all action and little talk if they want to re-re-bond this city with its baseball club.
