In August, as a baseball fan, you are always looking to October. Either you are waiting for your team to play in the postseason, or you are waiting to watch your other favorite sports teams, whose schedule is beginning in the 10th month of the year.
Consider Twins fans in the latter group. Most Minnesotans are already talking about the Vikings (even though they are going to be a disaster this year) and the Timberwolves, threatening to make the postseason for the first time since Kevin Garnett played here. Of course, I am not a Vikings fan, and I don’t follow the NBA, so that really leaves only one local winter time team in the big 4 sports to focus on for me in Minnesota.
The good news is that the Wild have heavily invested in the future of the team. This season is… ugh. It’s not going to happen. It’s going to be a long, cold snowy winter. I already can’t wait until April.
(If you were wondering, there was never a better reason to Follow the Compass than this. Nothing to do in Minnesota, so go to Jacksonville!)
