San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan will forever be linked to one another long after their time in the NBA is over.
Together they have won four NBA titles, kept San Antonio in title contention since Duncan’s arrival, which has allowed the Spurs to hold the best winning percentage of all pro sports for quite some time.
Aside from the player-coach relationship they have forged throughout the years, by now they must be best of friends. Right?
Well according to Pop, TD has been nothing but a pain whenever he is trying to coach the team.
Pop was asked about if Duncan tries to coach on the sideline when he’s out: “Duncan doesn’t let me say a word. (Duncan’s) been a thorn in my side for 15 years and I don’t know how much longer I can take it.” (via Mike Trudell, Lakers.com)
Obviously Pop is just kidding but looking back at their time together, I am sure Spurs fans are just full of great memories when it comes to Pop and TD.
From them celebrating four NBA titles, the countless playoff runs, to their quirky sense of humor and much more, it will be a very sad day once these two call it quits and walk away from the game and the Spurs.
So soak it in Spurs fans, a coach like Pop and a player like Duncan don’t come around often.
