Possibly the perfect scenario?

As has been noted in many occasions, the Twins are ready to make some moves. I have highlighted some options for trades here and there, but Phil Mackey from AM1500 here in the Cities had a few rumors to kick around. One that I noted was the the Angels would be willing to deal Peter Bourjos for pitching, and have scouted Liriano.

Interesting.

If the Twins were to move Liriano and his remaining couple of months for Bourjos, that would certainly be a good deal in Minnesota, as Bourjos would be under team control for 4 more seasons, if my math is correct. Not only that, but the position he plays, outfield, and a speedy outfield at that, is essentially a replacement for Denard Span, who, if I had to guess, will shortly be on his way out of town.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful? Bourjos has major league experience already, and is, as I mentioned, lightning fast. He is known for his range, like Ben Revere and Span, and stole 22 bases last year. The incredible prospect level in Anaheim has made him expendable there, and his .243 average this season probably isn’t a huge concern. He hit 12 homers last year as well, and could be a 10-15 homer guy here.

This is the type of move, especially if Span can return pitching prospects, that makes the team better for the future, and will continue to paint Terry Ryan as incredibly savvy.

I mean, you know, if it’s actually something that’s on the table. This time of year is excruciating.
