Postgame Video: Kings 95, Warriors 91 in preseason finale

A sloppy game, but a thrilling finish.  The Sacramento Kings won their preseason finale at Power Balance Pavilion, 95 to 91, against the Golden State Warriors.

Head Coach Paul Westphal after the game:

It’s nice to have basketball back in this building isn’t it?  It was an exciting, sloppy game and well, I thought we did some good things.  Obviously the ball handling was a lot.  All those turnovers were a coach’s nightmare.  I came into this game and I didn’t even have any gray hair.  So yeah, I thought our defense was good and I thought we were trying to move the ball to play together, and a lot of times we did.  We missed some easy shots and had a lot of opportunities in the first half, and missed free throws and we still had a good lead.  I thought that we played well in the first half for the most part despite those things and the fact that we didn’t do a good job on our defensive guard.  Then in the second half, we did a better job on the defensive glass and then we really started the turnover parade.  But we made plays together both defensively and offensively down the stretch and I think that’s a good sign for a young team.  We need more preseason games to be ready, but we don’t get them.  So, hopefully we’ll get some time in and get some of these mistakes and rustiness out of our system in practice these next few days.  I’m sure there’ll be a lot of sloppy games with two weeks of training camp but that’s what lies ahead.
