Rudy Gay is an extremely talented basketball player and great member of the community but last season, he struggled in George Karl’s system.
Make no mistake about it, the Kings have shopped him before and are continuing to shop him. His contract is very moveable, especially after today’s bonanza of money flying everywhere to players who are not better than Gay offensively.
Let’s us take a look at the first scenario:
The Kings need a point guard and they would get a young Ricky Rubio barley entering his prime. They would also get Shabazz Muhammad, who can score at a high rate if given the opportunity.
Let’s take a look at the second scenario:
The Pacers have been reportedly very interested in Gay. But they would have to give the Kings Rodney Stuckey, C.J. Miles and Glenn Robinson III, as a salary filler. And possibly a protected first round pick. If I’m Vlade Divac, I would stay away from Monta Ellis.
The Kings would get a very good shooter to space the floor in Miles and give DeMarcus Cousins a nice option to pass out to on the perimeter.
Let’s take a look at the third scenario:
// The Bulls are interested in Gay but in order to inquire about his services, they would have to part ways with Nikola Mirotić, who is an exceptional shooter and include Tony Snell, who is a very good defender. Mike Dunleavy, Jr. would be included to make salaries work.
I personally wouldn’t trade Gay because I believe he will play well under Dave Joerger but if it helps the team fill in some needs, then he’s the piece to use in order to improve the team.
Let me know what you think.
