Practice Notes: Biron to Start; Rupp Progressing; Sauer Not Traveling

Andrew Gross reports that Martin Biron was the first goaltender off the ice at practice today meaning he’s likely to start against his former team the Sabres in Buffalo tomorrow night.

…really love that Torts has the confidence to go with Biron. Will benefit Lundqvist and ultimately the team in the long run.

Gross also reports that Mike Rupp hopes to begin contact drills next week, but will not, along with Mike Sauer, accompany the team to Buffalo this week.

…unless Mitchell continues to regress, Rupp looks like he’s going to be the 13th forward when he’s healthy. Although, with the way Torts has been limiting Avery’s ice time, “The Grate One” may end up being the odd man out. Which #AveryArmy will love.

However, Pat Leonard says Marc Staal will travel with the team.

Also at practice, Leonard notes that Ryan Callahan had a maintence day with Erik Christensen taking his spot on a line with Brad Richards and Ruslan Fedotenko.
