Practice Notes: Woywitka Game-Time Decision, Staal Skates Hard & Sauer Spotted

OJ Mayo and Jason Terry

Andrew Gross at Rangers Rants reports that Jeff Woywitka (sore bone inside eft foot) was not optimistic about playing tomorrow night against the Islanders today and John Tortorella said he would be a game-time decision…

“Maybe it was not as strong as I wanted it to be for today,” Woywitka said. “I was excited coming out today but I’ve got to talk to Rammer. Obviously it’s better but quick turning and sudden movements, there’s definitely soreness on the side. It’s the same level (as Tuesday) but you take some meds to take any edge off a little bit and today I didn’t quite do that. It’s not that serious but it’s something I want to get his (Ramsey’s) opinion on.”

Gross adds Marc Staal continues to skate hard and go through full practices while not being cleared for contact.

Finally, Gross notes that Mike Sauer (concussion) was spotted around the practice rink today, though he did not speak to the media.

Here are the lines from practice today…

Anisimov-Stepan-Gaborik
Hagelin-Richards-Callahan
Dubinsky-Boyle-Mitchell
Rupp-Fedotenko-Prust

Avery-Christensen-Wolski

…while the Rangers make-shift defense has been holding up well, you have to wonder for how much longer. So the news that Staal is coming along and Sauer is at the practice rink is welcome.
