Pre-Game Skate: Preseason Doubleheader – Florida Panthers @ Nashville Predators – 9/20/15

Our long national nightmare is over, NHL hockey has returned to our lives!

Today marks the beginning of the NHL preseason, and its a doozy. We have not one, but two games on deck for our pleasure. We may or may not be able to extract much insight from these games, and we may not be even able to watch it, but the important thing is that its live hockey, and we get to have it again.

The One Timer

Full Game 1 rosters can be found here.

Full Game 2 rosters can be found here.

There are some players and potential combinations to watch for (or look out for on Twitter, as it doesn’t appear these games will be broadcast or streamed at this time). Game 1 marks the return of David Booth to a Panthers lineup for the first time in 4 years. We will also get Rocco Grimaldi in action. An interesting potential combination though is Dave Bolland and Martin Havlat. The two forwards played on a line together when with Chicago in 2008-09. One of their most memorable moments together was this overtime goal in the playoffs against Calgary.

Aaron Ekblad and Mike Matheson are both in the Game 2 roster and could possibly pair up. The two looked really good together during scrimmages during the first two days of camp, some game action could provide a little illumination. Nick Bjugstad and Kyle Rau will join them, and could end up on a line of their own given their extensive history together. Lawson Crouse will also join in Game 2 for his first Panthers action in a professional, non-practice setting.

Closing Thoughts

It’s hockey. Enjoy it!
