Pregame blog, Oregon State at Oregon

Ducks are trying to beat the Beavers for the fourth straight year, and for the fourth year, the game has Rose Bowl implications for at least one of the teams. After contending for Roses in 2008 and ’09, the Beibs are concluding their second straight losing season. Mike Riley’s job is safe, but somehow Oregon State has to upgrade facilities and recruiting to stay competitive in an expanded conference.

Sean Mannion has a good future as their quarterback, however, a good fit for the system with a live arm and confidence. Today, Oregon should be able to pressure him with a depleted receiver corps and not much of a running game.

If the Ducks control the line of scrimmage and avoid costly errors and big plays, their running game should power them to a decisive victory. Look for a bounce back, big-play performance from LaMichael James.
