Pregame Glance: Washington

Last night was not pretty, but the Buckeyes pulled out a 69-58 victory against Rhode Island in the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncansville, Conn. The Buckeyes will take on Washington today at 4:30 in their final game of the weekend. The Huskies earned an 83-79 overtime win against Seton Hall in the second game of the classic last night.

Even though the season is still young, the Buckeyes and Huskies already have a common opponent. Ohio State defeated Albany 82-60 in its first game of the year. Washington fell to the Great Danes 63-62, which kind of opened some eyes around Columbus.

It has been the two-headed attack of Aaron Craft and Deshaun Thomas for the Buckeyes this season–as expected. Thomas is averaging 22 points per game and Craft 16.5 on the young season.

Washington has a nice little 1-2 punch of its own in Abdul Gaddy and C.J. Wilcox. The two Husky stars have averaged 30 points per game between them on the young season.

Washington fell to the Great Danes of Albany 63-62 not days after the Buckeyes defeated the same Albany team 82-60. Washington turned it around last night against Seton Hall and managed to pick up the 84-73 win in overtime, outlasting a 27 point effort by Seton Hall’s Fuguan Edwin.

This will be a good test for the Buckeyes as the Huskies are an athletic team that play good defense. I expect a low-scoring affair here as both teams set themselves up in the half-court and trade body-blows.

Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. and, for the first time this season, OSU will be on national television on ESPN2.
