IBF World Lightweight Championship: Rances Barthelemy (c) (24-0) vs. Mickey Bey (22-1-1)
Luke Irwin: Bey is going for another crack at the title he vacated rather than defend, after he won it very suspectly, so now the IBF has a true champ in Barthelemy, who I think will box Bey up over twelve and send him on his way away from the title he threw away. Barthelemy via UD.
Nolan Howell: This is a big step up for Mickey Bey, considering the level of competition Barthelemy has faced and Bey having had mixed results in the upper echelon after devouring the fluff to build him up. Barthelemy is the much more technical and measured fighter here and it will show as he doesn’t take too much risk early and ups the volume as the fight goes on. Barthelemy cruises. Rances Barthelemy by unanimous decision.
WBC Latino Bantamweight Championship/WBA Fedelatin Bantamweight Championship: Emmanuel Rodriguez (c) (14-0) vs. Alberto Guevara (24-2)
Luke: Darkhorse fight of the weekend here. Rodriguez is probably a brighter prospect, but Guevara is probably better right now. I think this is a very, very close bout that Guevara edges out, and I think they meet again down the road. Guevara via SD.
Nolan: Guevara has been around despite his young age and this is an attempt to make baby steps up the ladder for the former amateur great in Rodriguez. Guevara is no pushover here and he could very well take this, but I suspect the powerful Rodriguez will size him up after two or three off rounds and cruise his way to a late stoppage. Emmanuel Rodriguez by ninth-round TKO.
