When: 7:30 PM EST; Tuesday, October 7th, 2014

Where: Barclays Center; Brooklyn, NY

TV: None (maybe on BBC Radio)

Well, here we are. The long NBA offseason is finally over, as the Brooklyn Nets begin their preseason slate of games tonight with an exhibition against Maccabi Tel Aviv, an Israeli team that has been a dominant force in the Euroleague for years.

The Barclays Center will host NBA basketball for the first time since May 12th, when the Nets lost Game 4 of their second round postseason matchup against the Miami Heat, putting Brooklyn down 3-1 in the series.

Tonight, a new Nets team takes the floor, without old names like Paul Pierce, Andray Blatche, and Shaun Livingston. However, new faces such as Jarrett Jack, Bojan Bogdanovic, Sergey Karasev, Markell Brown, and Cory Jefferson just to name a few. Also, Lionel Hollins will making his debut at the helm of the Nets.

The game won’t be on TV, and I won’t be at Barclays (as I’m halfway across the country right now), so other than highlights, I’ll have no way of watching any of this game, and either will you (unless you go to the game). So that means all we’ll have to go on for Bojan, Markell, and Cory’s NBA debuts–in addition to Brook Lopez’ return from injury will be a box score.

Final Thoughts

Maccabi played the Cavaliers–with LeBron and Kevin Love–on Sunday night, losing 107-80 in the process. But they–formerly coached by David Blatt, who is now coaching Cleveland–do have some notable players to Americans, such as Alex Tyus (University of Florida), Jeremy Pargo (Gonzaga and NBA cup of coffee), and Sylven Landesberg (former star at Virginia).

They will not be a pushover at all, so playing them is a nice opening test for the new-look Nets.
