What to watch

1.  Jimmer Fredette’s playing time

Coach Michael Malone will continue to tinker with his rotation and lineup throughout the preseason.  But do his plans include much of the third-year guard?  With a “did not play – coach’s decision” on Monday, Fredette was a healthy scratch from the Kings’ exhibition loss to the Warriors.

2.  The health of Greivis Vasquez and Carl Landry

At this point, the Kings seem to be taking precautionary measures with their two veteran players.  Vasquez is still recovering from offseason ankle surgery and it limited him in practice last week in Santa Barbara.  He will once again sit out tonight’s game again and is targeting Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers for his Kings’ debut.  Landry, meanwhile, is nursing a minor quad injury and will miss tonight’s game as well.

3.  Can the Kings play a full 48 minutes on both ends of the floor?

Much to coach Malone’s approval, the Kings showed progress on defense Monday night.  However, they were only able to keep up their defensive effort for three of the game’s four quarters and were outscored 24 to 10 to start the final period.  The Kings also showed an improved willingness to share the basketball, but had trouble with their execution and finished with 26 turnovers.
