What to watch

1. The performance of Marcus Thornton

The veteran shooting guard will likely see heavy minutes after sitting out Wednesday’s win over the Golden State Warriors.  Michael Malone has a difficult decision to make at the 2-spot, which is far from settled.  Tonight is Thornton’s opportunity to solidify his place in Malone’s rotation.

2. Patrick Patterson’s energy on the glass

Patterson had a nice game on the boards against Golden State, pulling down eight rebounds in the victory.  The fourth-year forward is making a late push to take over the reins from Jason Thompson, and his effort in the rebounding department will play a critical role.  Another good night on the boards can only help his case.

3. Isaiah Thomas’ grip on the reins at point guard

Isaiah Thomas took over Wednesday’s game against the Warriors, scoring 10 of his 21 points in the contest’s pivotal third quarter.  With Vasquez still showing signs of rust because of his surgical layoff, Thomas appears to have control of the one-spot in the Kings’ lineup.  In the battle at point guard, a strong outing against Chris Paul and Darren Collison may push him over the top.
