So much for Kobe Bryant’s hope to play in every preseason game.
    .
The Lakers (1-4) have ruled Bryant out for Saturday’s exhibition against the Golden State Warriors (2-2) in San Diego because of a bruised lower left leg that has kept him out of the team’s last two practices. Bryant left the third quarter of Tuesday’s game against Sacramento after getting kneed in his left leg.
    .
But Lakers coach Byron Scott dismissed any concern about the seriousness surrounding Bryant’s health even if he played only 41 games in the past two seasons amid season-ending injuries to his left knee and right shoulder. Scott called Bryant’s left leg “a little sore” and chalked up his absence as “precautionary.” Bryant did not speak to reporters on Thursday and Friday.
    .
“If it was a regular-season game, there’d be a much better chance of him playing,” Scott said of Bryant, who will stay home on Saturday after receiving treatment. “But since it’s not, there’s no need for him to play.”

Scott said he has not decided on his starting lineup. But he outlined clear steps Bryant must take before practicing.
    .
  • “‘A certain 7-footer has already requested eight tickets,’ Ridder said.
    .
Hall of Famer Bill Walton along with Luke’s mother, brothers and high school friends are expected to be in attendance when the Warriors face the Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason game at the arena where Luke as a toddler watched his father play.
    .
The Warriors take on the Lakers at Valley View Casino Center, which for a long time was called the San Diego Sports Arena when it was the home court for Bill and the San Diego Clippers.” — Leung
