Three things to ponder

1. Does Rudy Gay play?

Gay rolled his left ankle during Friday’s practice and missed the Kings’ game against Maccabi Haifa on Saturday.  During pregame on Saturday, Gay walked without a limp and was seen heading to the practice facility with Chip Schaefer, the Kings’ director of athletic performance.  Preseason means very little in the grand scheme of things, but coach Michael Malone was hoping to start building chemistry with his starting lineup before the season kicks off next week.

2. Has Malone already revealed the Sacramento Kings’ opening night starting lineup?

Coming into camp, the only players with guaranteed starting jobs with the Kings were Gay and DeMarcus Cousins.  We have seen some different looks throughout preseason, but it appears that Darren Collison, Ben McLemore and Jason Thompson have secured their respective spots with the first unit.  That is, unless Malone switches it up again tonight.

3. Can the Kings get their turnover issues under control?

Through five games, Sacramento has turned the ball over 104 times, including a team-leading 21 by Cousins.  If they continue that trend tonight, the Spurs will eat them alive.  The Kings have five new faces playing rotational minutes.  The team is still building chemistry and will use these last two preseason games to let the core nine or 10 players find a rhythm.  Hopefully that leads to a reduction in errors.
